Fireproof

Earlier today, I was flipping channels and caught the end of the movie "Fireproof". I just love that movie. Morgan and I watched that movie when I first found out about it, before we started going to church. I really think it was the beginning of a change in us. And today, when I saw the ending, and they got re-married and the pastor said that now their marriage was built upon the strong foundation of the Lord, it just really hit me!

I mean, in that moment, I realized just how important it was for our marriage that we got ourselves in church and started to build our foundation upon the Lord. Just like in the movie, He has changed us both dramatically. So many pieces had to come together in order for us to end up here........pieces that no doubt the Lord helped to fall into place.

I laughed when Caleb is holding his bible and they're on their way to church at the end and the neighbors are like, I just don't understand that boy! I saw us in that picture. I thought, oh my goodness, my Mom would be absolutely amazed that we go to church now and that we have made it a part of our lives. She would be so proud of us and she would say that she knew we could do it! It's not even about going to a church building every week. It's about the changes that have happened as a result of giving our lives to God.

Anyways, I was just thinking about how the Lord showed us that movie and then he took us and acted it out in our own lives! That's pretty amazing!! Here is a clip from the end of the movie. It's such a great movie......if you haven't seen it yet, you must watch it!!!

Weekend with Dad!

We had a great weekend! My Dad and Stepmom came for a visit on Friday night. We went out to eat and then came back and visited.

Then, Saturday was my Dad's Birthday! It was fun to get to spend his birthday with him. We all went and saw the movie, "Despicable Me" in 3-D and it was such a great movie! We all loved it, even the guys. It was so funny and such a cute story too. Lily was hilarious because she kept trying to reach out and grab things.

That night, we ate at Outback Steakhouse and came back and had birthday cake. Yum!
Today, we all went to church and had a great service. We went out and ate lunch and then they had to leave to drive back home.

Later, we are going to a 1st birthday party for our friend, Isabella, so I made her this dolly. Originally, she had no ponytails and I thought she looked weird, so I gave her some. I made this doll's arms and legs bigger and I like them a lot better, but I need to work on her head/neck, because it's top heavy and keeps flopping over. LOL! I made her a little matching flower clip to wear too.

Bloom Where You're Planted!

Last night, we watched "Facing the Giants" and it was such a great movie!! One part really spoke to me. It's the part where Mr. Bridges tells Coach Taylor that he still has an open door and the Lord is not through with him yet. He says the Lord has placed him here, and until he moves him, he is to bloom where he is planted.
I loved that so much!! That's going to be my goal for 2010, to bloom where I am planted!
I hope if you haven't seen the movie, you will watch the clip I am talking about. Fast forward it to 2:30 and you can see it. It's really good!

Well, today it is time to see how much money was raised for Amy for Elijah's adoption fund! When I told her I wanted to do this, I told her it probably wouldn't be much, but I have faith that the Lord will take this money and multiply it! The final total raised was:

Yay! Thank you so much to everyone who helped by buying something from my website! I have a special surprise that I have been feeling that the Lord wanted me to do. The other 50% that was raised will be given to Lauren for Tucker's adoption fund. So, if you were one of those who did purchase something from me between October and December, just know that 100% of what you spent is going to help these two families bring their little boys home! Just to make it easy, I'm going to send $125 to Amy and $125 to Lauren.
Happy New Year everyone!!! Oh, and if you could say a prayer for Amy's daughter, Ryann, she has pneumonia and is not feeling very well. :(

Fun at the Movies

Yesterday, Madison's friend Tori invited us all to go see the movie "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs", so they picked up Madison and Kaylee and then Lily and I met them up there. When we got there, all of the other kids were riding the carousel, so I took Lily on it when they were done. She LOVED it! She wanted to ride on the top level too. I took this picture with my cell phone, so it's all blurry, but so cute anyways. She loved it that all the other girls were waving to her from the bottom.

Then, Morgan met us up there for the movie. I asked him if he wanted to come so that if Lily decided she didn't want to sit still, he could just take her home with him. So, we got all our popcorn and drinks and found some booster chairs for the seats, because without them, Kaylee and Lily's chairs kept folding up on them! LOL! Lily was a little scared to sit in hers after that happened. I had to convince her that the chair wasn't going to do that again. Ha!

I couldn't believe how funny that movie was! For a kid's movie, it was so entertaining and all of us adults were laughing just as much as the kids. It also made it fun because it was 3D. You should've seen those giant glasses on Lily! I wish I had gotten a picture of that! They would barely stay on my face, so I know she was having a hard time keeping them on hers. I was surprised though.......she sat there the entire time with those glasses on and I only had to take her to the bathroom once. Then, when we got back she sat in my lap for the rest of the movie.

It was alot of fun! Now that Lily's getting older, it's so much easier to do these kind of things as a family. Well, I have to go get ready to take Madison to a Birthday party. I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

A Fun Day and Because I'm Thrifty Like That

Yesterday evening, Kaylee and I met up with 3 of her little girlfriends and their Moms to play at this bouncy place we have here in town. I had never been there and I wish I had known about it before now! It was just a huge room with about 8 or 9 of those huge bouncy jumper things that kids love to play in. It was air conditioned and indoors, so it's the perfect place to take your kids and be nice and cool and not have to worry about the weather!

They had so much fun. Two of the little girls will be in her class this year, so I bet we'll be getting together a lot more. We went to eat dinner with them afterwards too.

The girls were so busy playing, I didn't get them all to stop long enough to get a good picture of them together. Ha!

And, because I'm super thrifty (or possibly just too lazy to make a hair appointment), I cut Madison and Kaylee's hair today. We just trimmed about an inch off Kaylee's, but we cut about 4-5 inches off Madison's. Doesn't she look so grown up and beautiful?!! Her hair is so soft and healthy now that we got those frizzy ends cut off.

I was going to have my Aunt Barbara come over and give us all haircuts, but she has been so busy going back and forth to the hospital with Zach that I thought I'd just go ahead and do it.

I have actually been known to give myself a hair cut before. I actually cut about 3-4 inches off mine once.

Well, we have "Meet the Teacher" night at both of the girl's schools tonight and then tomorrow we are going to Galveston to spend the night and hit the beach with the girls. They are so excited! I'll be back on Thursday night with pictures from our little trip :)

P.S. The coolest thing happened too today. I got my giveaway package that I won from Angelica Grace Designs (it actually came yesterday, but I didn't realize it until today), and it had a really nice straw beach bag and even a smaller bag to put your wet swimsuits in. I emailed Angie and told her how grateful I was for that.......talk about perfect timing! I am so blessed!!

P.S.S. Is anyone else super excited that "Hannah Montana the Movie" comes out on DVD today? LOL!

Phil Wickham and Other Randomness

I have officially found my #1 favorite Christian artist!
Since my last post, I have been listening to other Phil Wickham songs and I absolutely love them all! You can even go to his website and download an entire album for free! I just love his sound and his lyrics. I bought both of his CD's tonight and I can't wait to get them.....y'all know how much I love my music! Here's one of his songs that I really loved:

By the way, Veronica....I thought it was funny that he is from CA and my other favorite band, Leeland, is from TX....that can't be a coincidence! LOL!! (By the way, you can also listen to Leeland's entire album at their website too!)
So, in other randomness, I watched this debate the other day online on the subject, "Does God Exist?" On one side was Kirk Cameron and his partner Ray Comfort, who run the ministry Way of the Master, which teaches Christians how to share their faith with others. On the other side was Brian Sapient and Kelly O'Connor, who are well-known atheists. The debate, in my opinion, really served no purpose as neither side was ever going to convince the other to change their beliefs. But, I just cannot get this girl Kelly out of my mind and this has been weeks since I've watched this. She actually said that she would rather burn in Hell than to live under a dictator like God. To hear someone say that, and have the knowledge that Hell is exactly where she will go, and to know that her torment will be worse than she can even fathom..........it truly breaks my heart. I would love to ask you all for your prayers for both of these people who are so lost that they have taken the enemy's cause upon themselves without truly realizing the choice that they have made. So, will you join me in praying for them?
So, running across Kirk Cameron led me to another thing.....the movie "Left Behind." They actually have it on you tube and I watched it yesterday. It was pretty good. Have y'all seen it? Did you like it? I'm about to go watch Left Behind II on you tube in a minute. I thought that was so neat that they have them on there!
As you can see, I haven't been getting much done for Summer Suzette Couture lately. I've been really busy for one thing, but even being busy wouldn't usually stop me from doing something that I'm passionate about. I'm not really sure what my deal is. My good friend, Veronica, has been really helping me lately, just by being such a good friend and listening to my many millions of ideas of where I want to go with SSC. I'm proud of everything I've made so far, but my problem lies in that I just don't feel like it has any purpose or meaning behind it. Sure, making little girls look cute is fun, but I have always felt like the things I make should have meaning behind them. I'm not sure how you make baby tees and bows have deep meaning, but where there's a will, there's a way! LOL!!! Seriously, I want my business to support meaningful causes and I want it to glorify God. I feel like I'm on the edge of a discovery, but I'm still searching and being faithful that God has a plan and always did have a reason for SSC. Will you please just say a tiny prayer that I will be open enough to know whether or not I'm on the path that He wants me to be on with it? Thank you so much!!

Fun Times!

So much has been going on this week!

First of all, I FINALLY got started on making things for my business! I am still working out all the details of exactly what I want to make, and pricing, but I've decided that this weekend will be a Summer Suzette Couture products-making marathon so that hopefully I can begin listing things next week.

Here's a sneak peak at one bow that I made this week.

Kaylee also had Closing Ceremony last night for softball. The Cheetah Divas got 3rd place, so we were very proud of them. She was just super happy that they handed out medals. She did not want a trophy. She wanted a medal! She even wore it to school today. Ha!

We are also very proud of Madison. She was picked by her teacher to be a "star student" for the last six weeks. One student is picked from each homeroom every six weeks based on their work ethic, the fact that they always try their best, and that they are role models. This morning I got to attend a special breakfast they had to honor their star students.

And, just for a little shameless plug for my business......I made her bow and her t-shirt that she is wearing. You can expect to see things like this in my store soon. :) Her principal complimented her on her shirt today. That made me excited!

The girls also got their report cards today. Madison's lowest grade was a 98 and she was cracking me up because she has been really worried about this fitness test they've been having in gym because she couldn't pass the "curl-ups" part (LOL, she is so my child!), but she got an "E" in gym this six weeks, which is the best you can get. She's way too much like me in that she worries too much! We are working on that. Kaylee is only in Kindergarten, but her report card shows that she has mastered everything they are supposed to learn this year and her teacher said she is "ready for first grade and doing really well."

Today after school, the girls and I met up at the movies with their good friends, Tori and Tali, and their Mom Julie to see the "Hannah Montana" movie. This was Kaylee and Lily's first time to the movies. This was a big deal for me! I haven't been to the movies in years. Partly because Lily was so little, and partly because the idea of it gave me so much anxiety. Can I just say again how much I want to get down on my knees and Praise God! for curing me of my anxiety?!! When I say it was horrible, I mean it was horrible and debilitating and it ruined my life for 4 years! I feel like I've been released from prison and I owe it all to God! If you aren't a believer and you don't think there is a God, I am here to tell you that there is and I have proof!

Anyways, I digress. We had such a great time at the movie. Lily did pretty well, considering she's only 2. You should've seen how excited she was to see the huge movie screen. She even got up during the movie and was dancing to some of the songs. She's such a cutie pie! That movie made me want to be a young girl again! That kind of stuff is so much fun! I am going to have a blast with my girls doing stuff like this now!

Well, my two big kids are having a sleepover at Tori and Tali's house tonight, so it has turned out to be a great day for them.

It's been a great week for me. I even got a special phone call today from someone I consider one of my closest friends, though today was the first time we've talked to each other........it was my best blogging friend, Veronica! It was so much fun to talk to her, and as I suspected, she said I totally sound "country". LOL!! And I discovered that Californians have no idea what Rotel tomatoes are. Us Texans use rotel for lots of things. Do y'all know what it is? And Californians don't wear lots of hairbows like us Southerners do. I told Veronica that she's going to have to start a new trend around there when she gets my bows. Ha!! Love ya, Veronica!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! It is pouring down right now. Remember last week when I said it flooded around here? Well, I may have driven through some high water, which may have gotten into my front passenger-side floorboard, which may have started stinking, which may have led Madison to say my car smelled like throw-up, to which I may have told her it smells more like a dumpster to me, which may have led Morgan to spend $300 on new carpet for my car. By the way, I have an SUV too, so it's not like it's low to the ground, but such is life. Note to self: don't drive through high water, no matter how high you "think" your car is!

It's so hilarious that it literally cracks me up every time I look at it!!

I met Stacey because she is a super talented local photographer, but this year our girls are in dance together. Us Moms got to talking about Twilight at dance the other night, and she was telling us about her little pocket Edward doll that she carries around in her purse! LOL As if that isn't funny enough, she takes photos of her pocket Edward in all kinds of funny places. Her best friend has one too, so they got her son to create them a blog so that they could share their pictures with us!

Thank You! and a Couple of Other Cool Things

Wow!! Thank you all so much for your prayers, your encouragement and your kind words on my last post! That was awesome! What I wanted more than anything was for everyone to see what the Lord has been doing in my life, so for Lynnette to choose my blog on this particular week was so exciting, and I have no doubt that the Lord made that happen!


Today, a couple of exciting things happened. I started Weight Watchers last week and today was our meeting. After the meeting, a lady came up to me and said that she remembered L from when she was a little baby. I did not recognize her at first (which I'm still kicking myself for), but she was the lady who made candles for the craft boutique that I used to sell my things at! She makes the most wonderful smelling candles ever! Her company is Makin Scents Candles. As you can see, L's favorite part of the boutique was the candles! Let me just say that I purchased quite a few broken candles that L dropped while "sampling" them! LOL


Anyways, she asked me if I was still making things for my business. Back then, I had made some shirts for her granddaughters that said "Sergeant Cutie" on them, since her son-in-law was in the military. I told her that I was trying to get back into it, but just couldn't seem to get going. She was so encouraging to me. She told me how cute my things were that I made and that I should really get back into it. She said to trust her, that she has a good eye for these things! I just thought that was the sweetest thing! She has no idea how much that meant to me.


I have been doubting myself lately, thinking maybe I'm not quite good enough. It seemed like everything I would try to make would not turn out the way I wanted. So, for her to say what she did, it was exactly what I needed to hear. It amazes me how God always knows exactly what we need, and he sends people like her. What a blessing!

The other cool thing that happened was that I actually got an email from the Pastor at the church I visited on Sunday. He just wanted to welcome me to their church, invite me back, and gave me all his contact information if I had any questions or anything. I thought that was awesome! I emailed him back and gave him the link to my blog so he could read about how wonderful my church experience was! I'm sure he's super busy, but I hope he will be able to read it and see how much that day meant to me.

I hope y'all have been having a good week so far too! I have a super awesome video of Robert Pattinson's music to post in a minute! He's the guy who plays Edward in "Twilight" for those of you who aren't totally obsessed fans. Anyways, my friend Jennifer sent them to me last night and I was completely amazed that he could sing, and that this sound came out of him! It's a totally bluesy, soulful sound that I would've never expected. It was a very pleasant surprise! There is nothing that speaks to me more than music..........

Who else is totally excited about the Twilight movie coming out on DVD tomorrow?!

I can't wait! If I wasn't afraid of all the people who are at Walmart in the middle of the night, I would run out at midnight and grab me a copy! I guess it will have to wait until the morning.

Monday's Random Thoughts

Okay, so I just realized today that I thought my last post was my 100th, but when I was looking at all of my posts, I realized that I never even published one of them (it was a poem I was working on). When I deleted it, it made me have 99 posts, so........

This is my 100th post! LOL!

I guess it doesn't matter anyways, because I still don't have anything fancy planned! Ha!!

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I was so lazy yesterday. I didn't go to church like I had planned and I feel really mad at myself for that. I am planning to go next weekend with my very best friend, so I am looking forward to it!

I just finished watching the movie "Fireproof". I wanted Morgan to watch it with me, but he doesn't seem very interested and I just couldn't wait any longer because I wanted to see it so bad. It was an awesome movie!! I hope that one day I can get him to watch it with me. It is such an incredible story. One of my greatest wishes in the whole world is that one day Morgan and I will share our life together with Christ as our foundation. It would be so special to me to see the man I love worship the Lord. I believe that one day he will. I refuse to believe otherwise.
