Yesterday, the girls had recital pictures at their dance studio. The way the studio sets this up is actually pretty neat. They have sign up sheets for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and you just sign up for a time slot and you go up there and the photographer is all set up and they have your proofs ready for you to look at and buy at the recital.
It's getting easier and easier to do the whole beauty salon thing now. I tell the girls, "Welcome to my beauty salon!" Ha! I love picture day because we do just a soft makeup look.......no icky red lipstick or fake eyelashes! They require us to do the red lipstick and dark, crazy looking makeup for recital though, because it shows up so much better on stage. Up close.....not so pretty though. :D
Anyhow, the girls had 4 outfits each and it was fun to see what poses/props the photographer used and I can't wait to see how they turned out!
I took a few pics of my own. The recital theme this year is "The Daily News". They always keep the theme a secret until right before, and we always have fun trying to guess. We thought it had something to do with the stages of life this year.....I guess that's what newspapers are all about, so we were close!
Kaylee's tap costume, "Singin' in the Rain". They will have umbrellas to dance with too.

Madison's lyrical costume, "Hope Now". Hope Now is one of my favorite Christian songs. I love that her lyrical teacher is a youth pastor! This dance is for cancer awareness. They will be dancing with different colored ribbons that represent the different types of cancer. I can't wait to see it!

Kaylee's ballet costume. I love that little hat! The music has no words, but it sounds like little typewriters.

Madison's ballet costume. They are brides in this one! We forgot to put her veil on before I took this picture. How surreal to see her dressed up as a bride though! They will have bouquets to dance with for this one.

Kaylee's jazz costume, "Speed Racer". So cute!

Madison's jazz costume, "Let's Go to the Movies". They will be dancing with flashlights for this one.

And this is their competition dance costume that they performed at the dance competition a few weeks ago. It's called "Fire".....it's a song that starts out saying, "Somebody call 9-1-1" You may have heard it before. This dance will open up the recital and I can't wait to see it again! It's amazing!

I wanted to get a picture of them together in their performance team outfits and pom-poms, but they weren't interested, so I didn't make them. LOL!
We had a lot of fun though. I remember my first couple of years doing this, I would get all stressed out trying to make sure everything looked perfect and I am so much more laid back now. I try really hard to make sure we have fun and make fun memories......photos are for only a snapshot in time, but the memories we make doing these things together will last a lifetime!

Adorable!!! I really want to find a dance studio for my girls but until we get a second vehicle it isn't going to happen because there aren't any very close to us even though we live in a city. Suburbs are, seemingly, the place to go! Anyway they are just so beautiful. I love that you did their makeup subtle but I understand the stage makeup. My sister was a dancer!
Sometimes I can't reply to emails that from through Blogger but I wanted to say I can't wait for your upcoming sono! My vote is BOY! I didn't check yet if you put a poll up or not so I'll check in a minute to put my vote in. EXCITING!!!
All their dance outfits are really cute!
Love them all! I think my fave is probably singing in the rain! Precious!!!
How cute!! I love what you said about pictures being a snapshot, but memories last a lifetime, pretty brilliant!!
My mom was just talking to me the other day about a dance picture of mine. She said she spent the whole morning stressing over my hair and makeup and fussing at me because my three year old little self wouldn't sit still. She said every time she looks at that picture that is all she can remember and she hates that because you sure wouldn't know from the picture what a bad morning we had!
Your girls look sooo great in their costumes. I bet their pictures turned out just fabulous! They are becoming such pretty little ladies!
Love, love, love their costumes! I remember dancing to "Singing in the Rain" when I was seven too! ^_^
so much fun! I bet they love dressing up in all of those fun costumes :)
Looks like they have a lot of fun in all of those cute costumes. Yet they are learning much about practice, and discipline....and how they can accomplish so much from them! I think it is great.
The arts are good for our emotional growth too....and they let us use the creative side that God gave us. (:>)
You all will enjoy looking back on these pictures when they are grown, and remembering these fun times.
Your girls are amazing...and so very beautiful.
Love, Momma Linda
Oh geez, thanks Kristin, this makes me want to put Shelby in dance now! They are adorable!
All the pics are so cute! They sure have their dance poses down pat! I look forward to putting Audrey in dance since I think she's the most agile of my girls!
