The Unstoppable Power of Christ

Okay, y'all are going to have to pray for me, because I just finished eating a piece of cake and I had pizza for lunch and dinner. Ummm...........is that on the eating plan, Kari? I didn't think so either. :( Tomorrow is a new day!

Church on Sunday was awesome! One thing that made it exciting is that we had someone who played this drum thing. I don't know what you call it, but you sit on it and it looks like a box and you beat on it and it sounds like a drum. It really added to the music and made it sound great! He also had a cymbal too. That box thing has been sitting on stage, but I didn't know it was actually an instrument. Ha! Another fun thing was our Pastor got up on stage and sang a song. I didn't even know he could sing and that was a neat surprise. We also had a full house too.......so neat to see our church growing!

We started One Prayer, so we watched a video sermon from Steven Furtick of Elevation Church in NC. It was called "The Unstoppable Current of the Power of Christ" and I am always amazed that every Sunday our sermon always seems to be on exactly what I need to hear!

All last week, I was in a funk and convinced that there was no point of us going to church, that I have nothing to offer, and most sadly, I just felt things were not getting better and I was just exhausted. Clearly, my thinking was all messed up. It was just one of those weeks where I was really missing my Mom and flat out angry that I don't have anyone in my life who can encourage and support me, or just be my best friend, like she was. I know you can probably all relate to times in your life where something was taken away from you and that panicky feeling where you feel you just can't catch your breath. Well, even almost 6 years later, I still feel that way without my Mom.

Then, after thinking about it, I realized something. Our Pastor said that he was going to pray for God to mess us up, so I'm blaming this all on him. Haha!! Any time there is potential for the Lord to do great things, the enemy will be right there planting his lies and I believe that's exactly what he was doing. Like Denver Moore said in "Same Kind of Different as Me"........."if the devil ain't messin' with you, he's already got you."

So, then we had this awesome message at church and of course, a great party day after church, and I felt much better. But, I'm just being honest in telling you that every day of this new life I have, there is a battle going on and it is hard.

One Prayer is all about a bunch of churches coming together from all over the country so that we can be known for what we're FOR and not what we're AGAINST. Unstoppable means rising up and shining for the glory of God. It's about coming together to create change for God's glory.

The main message of this sermon was about God's unstoppable current of the power of Christ.

When we want what God wants for the same reasons God wants it, we're unstoppable!

The unstoppable power resides in every believer. We looked at Acts 3: 1-10. It's the story of a beggar outside the temple gate who asks Peter and John for money as they are heading into the temple. All he asked for was money, but Peter and John told him they had no money, but what they did have was the power of Jesus Christ. So, they told him to get up and walk and he did and they had healed him with what they did have! The beggar asked for money, but received a miracle instead.

The pastor said he tells his church that the sermon actually starts in the parking lot. We can't depend on the preacher to do the work of the gospel. The pastor is there to build up the body of Christ so that they can go out and do the work. The power of God flows through ordinary men. It is possible that God can use you to do a miracle in someone's life before the sermon even starts. Are you making yourself available for God to use you outside the temple gate?

You are a connector to the current of the power of Christ!

You're not "just a" volunteer or "just a" greeter. You're not "just a" anything in Jesus! You represent the unlimited God of the universe! We don't expect much when we go to church service. God will enable us to exceed every expectation though!

What DO you have? All that you have is all that He needs to do what He wants to do in your life. Don't limit your future on what you don't have. Look at what you DO have.

We often say to think outside the box. But that box often limits you. When we think outside the box, we think of things we can do IF ONLY.............if only I had this, if only this hadn't happened, etc. We think of what we would do if we could do........ But, the unstoppable power of God is INSIDE the box. It's what you CAN do. The same is true of the story of Jesus feeding thousands with a few fish and loaves of bread. He didn't look at what he didn't have, he looked at what he did have.

When you do what you CAN do, He will do what He can do. When you give God all that you have, it is all He needs to do everything He wants to do through your life. Stop telling God what you don't have and start offering Him what you do have!!!

Hey thanks for the powerful sermon update Kristin! I had to miss church on Sunday because I was sick...so I needed it! (:>)

I did watch David Jeremiah on TV and Charles Stanley...they are two of my favorite preachers.

I was feeling better today. Sadly tomorrow we are going to the funeral of our 31 yr. old friend. She was a wife, and a mother to 4 kids ages 6 to 11. It is so sad for those she has left behind.

But the good news is that her sufferings are over, and she is with her Lord...and we will see her again in Heaven.

Please pray for Kelly Weber's husband Julian, and their kids, and for her folks, Jeff and Tammy Michaelson, and her siblings and extended family. And for all of us who are hurting for them.

Love you,
Momma Linda

It was an awesome message, wasn't it? We watched it at our church too. I felt like I was hearing it all over again just from reading your post. You really do a great job taking notes and recapping sermons. I do not think that I would have been able to retell that message even close to what you did. Now I know how closely I get the real thing from your pastor every week when I stop by and read about it here at your place. You are so good at summarizing and retelling the Truth within a message. That really is a gift Kristin! Either that or you have a superior memory.:) And if that is the case, that is a gift too. :) Anyway, I loved the message today and I loved the idea of so many of us all across the country were hearing the same thing. It kinda made it feel like we were truly One Body. God is doing something pretty cool right now in His body. It is very exciting!! Hope you have a better week! Enjoy those girls of yours since they are all home from school for the summer!! :)

Hang in there, friend. We all have our good and bad days. I have learned that even when we don't want to do something, but in our heart we know we should, if we go ahead and do it, we usually receive a blessing from the Lord.

Prayers and blessings. I'm hear if you ever need to talk or vent.

I absolutely love how some reason the sermon always affects everyone and affects everyone differently. It is impossible that everyone is going through the same thing at the exact same time but still the sermon is able to speak to everyone. Amazing the power of the Lord.

Thanks for the words here. I get like that to Kristin we are a lot a like. I know people care but sometimes you feel like who cares about me? Or what good am I to others. It is the enemy. You should e-mail me and we can share prayer requests with each other when we are struggling. Hope your having a great weekend friend.

We all have weeks like you had. But know you are never alone :o) Easier said than done, I know. I always like how you show your realistic feelings, then end it with 'God is good and I still love Him.'

Awesome!
