Holiday Party and Advice Needed!

Yesterday, my MIL had a little get-together at her house to celebrate all of our Birthdays. The guys made fajitas and we had cake.

We had a lot of little ones there too, which was fun!
I can never get Lily to look at the camera!

I look really weird in this picture, but Zoey looks sweet! She fell asleep while I was holding her.
We didn't even go to church yesterday. I love the sermons, but I really wish they had Sunday School. Our church meets in groups during the week and from what I understand, most of them don't allow kids and we have no childcare options at all. One group asked us if we wanted to meet with them, but then they scheduled it on the one day that I specifically said I wouldn't be able to meet on. To be honest, the whole thing just makes me feel like it's a clique that I will never belong in. It makes me feel like I'm in 8th grade again, the new kid, hoping that the popular kids will pick me to be in their group. We've come such a long way and I really don't want to give up now. Any advice would really be appreciated!

Hi Kristin, I liked the pictures of the girls from the party. Zoey looks so sweet asleep in your arms. I love to hold sleeping babies don't you?

Sorry you are feeling discouraged about church. I will pray that God will guide you.

My advice would be to keep going and just accept it (for now) that there is no Sunday School. Maybe you could invite someone (Perhaps the pastor's family again) over to your house to get to know them better,...and then express to them your concerns about not having a sitter so you can't join in the smaller groups during the week.

At any rate keep telling the Lord and wait on His guidance. But don't stop going to church Kristin, cuz I know from personal experience that it is just too easy to get out of the habit of going,...and then you might stop growing spiritually. (Don't get discouraged honey)

I can tell that you do get so much from the sermons each week, cuz I do too as you share with us about what all you have learned.

Ok, that's my 2 cents worth. Another thought would be to try some other churches, but I know that is hard too.

I will be praying.

Love, Momma Linda

I think I read this post in my reader before it was edited and I just want you to know that you are loved and accepted! I am so sorry that all of that is happening and wish you could come and join our small group at church! I know you would feel welcomed. :) so, just let me know when you are in ohio. :) but, I do understand what you are saying about the church and there are wisdom in your words that we do sometimes forget those who are still in the "searching" stages of finding their relationship with God. We often go on with "church" and forget about the specific people in our ministries. Thank you for that reminder. God Bless you as you continue to search for what you are looking for but remember that HE will never fail and He will ALWAYS LOVE YOU! as will your bloggy friends. :) btw, check out beth moore's blog... she is always doing some kind of online bible study for women. I would also be happy to email you the notes from our ladies study. oh, and our married couples is doing "Sacred Marriage" by Gary Thomas, the DVD series. Maybe you could check that our from your library. It is a GREAT series! enough from me...

and I agree with Linda, get to know your pastor, voice your feelings and stay in church! God's family really is the best place to be! :)

I think you should call your pastor up and get the 411 on the groups! Our groups allow kids and we all take turns watching them, or we pitch in for a babysitter. Trust me, not having Sunday School is not a bad thing! Sorry, I am not a huge fan of it, but I can see your point if you can not make it to a group. I would just call the pastor and ask him what the deal is, but keep on pressing on!!

Cute photos! You guys did have a few little ones.

My advice would be not to give in or give up too quickly. From the previous posts you've writtten, this church seems to be a good fit for you and your precious family....not saying that it is for sure...just seemed like it. That being said, this is satan's way of confusing you and roaring his ugly head where it does not belong. I am a little surprised that any church would host Bible meetings or any type meeting and not offer childcare. I would definitely address my concerns with respected members/officials of the church for answers on this. I just wonder how big these groups are if there's no childcare provided. I wouldn't think that this would be good for the church. Anyhow, sorry to go on about that part of it. And as far as the meeting being set on a day that you specifically said you weren't available may truly be an oversight. I would just casually ask the person who you told if there was a particular reason why it has to be on that day. Maybe too much advice here....but that's my two cents worth.

Let us know how it turns out.

Miss you lots!

Stick with it. The church we used to attend had small groups, but the group that we were in had all the kids and would meet at the church so that one set of the adults would watch the kids each week so that the other parents could be at the class. It was nice, because then everyone got to be at the same amount of classes and noone had to miss due to child care issues. Maybe your church could do that.
