This is a picture of the beautiful gold heart and diamond necklace that he surprised me with before the ceremony. As you can see, I had picked out a pearl necklace to wear that day, but it was quickly replaced with the beautiful heart one! Hey, this would make a good ad for Kay Jewelers, huh?! LOL
Here's a picture of the beautiful chapel. I loved it when I first visited it. It was intimate, classy, and just perfect for the small wedding that we had. They did everything for us at this chapel. They took care of the minister, flowers, cake, photographer, videographer, food, invitations. All we had to do was show up. It was wonderful!!
This picture is not the best in the world, but I love it because it captures a very special moment. I have always loved to sing, and before we got married, my mom told me that I should record a song and have it played at our wedding as a surprise to Morgan. I was a little shy to do it, because although I love to sing, I wouldn't say I'm "American Idol" material or anything like that! LOL But, I had to admit that if I didn't do it, I might regret it later, so I got out my old trusty Singalodeon (anyone else have one of those?) and recorded "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion. I know, I cringe every time someone on Idol tries to sing a Celine Dion song, because you just can't replicate her voice, but it turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself! Remember, this was a song of love, not to win the Grammy award, or anything!
So, after we lit the unity candle, they played my song. Morgan was just standing there smiling, like okay, what do we do now....just stand here? So, I lean over and whisper, "that's me." He looks at me like, what do you mean? You can hear me on the video (because he was miked) over and over saying, "that's me on the song." He never did understand what I was trying to tell him. He thought I just meant that the song represented what I wanted to say to him! LOL!!
I guess my singing wasn't too bad if he didn't even realize it was my voice singing! The minister apologized afterward, because he had meant to tell everyone that I was singing the song before they played it. So, there were only a few people during the ceremony that even realized that it was me singing that song. Morgan said later that he just thought it was some other person singing it. So, during the party afterward, the minister told everyone that it was my gift to Morgan and they played it again.
Another funny thing that happened is that when we went to do our toast, we realized Morgan's glass was leaking! Someone took some wax from one of the candles and pressed it on the crack to plug the leak so we could do a quick toast! I guess when the glass was engraved, it cut a little too deep. I don't think either one of us got a piece of our wedding cake either, except for the little bite you get when you feed each other for the picture!
This last photo is very precious to me too. From left to right is: My Mom, Dad, Me, Morgan, My Birth Grandmother Dorothy (her daughter is Susan, my Birth Mother) and My Aunt Barbara (Susan's Sister) who I talk about on here often because we are very close.
My wedding day was just perfect. It wasn't about having a fancy wedding that day, it was about having something special to remember and tell our kids about one day. It was only 3 months later that we found out we were going to have our first baby, so we spent our one year Anniversary with a 3 week old little girl napping in her carseat as we ate at The Olive Garden.
Our marriage has had it's ups and downs, like any marriage, and there never seems to be a dull moment, as every three years since we've gotten married, we introduce a new baby to our family. I think I've said before on here that if we don't have a baby this year, we will be breaking our tradition! Don't tell Morgan, but even though we said we are done having kids, I secretly keep hoping that we don't break our tradition. I think he might actually be thinking the same thing too. (Ha!)
We spent our honeymoon in Las Vegas. It was a lot of fun, as neither one of us had been before. We were so young back then. I was 23 and he was 24. This year will be our 10 Year Anniversary!

Kristin, what a great wedding you had. And that sounds like a good place to go since they did all of the work and all you had to do was show up,...(and of course pay) Tee Hee

Kristin,
You are absolutely beautiful! What a lovely bride.
I loved where you got married - so bright and cheery.
I wish I could hear you sing that song. Wanna post it on your blog for us? :) How funny that your husband didn't know what you were talking about.
I loved reading this today. Thanks for sharing bits and pieces of your special and beautiful day.
Love,
Lynnette
Kristin, what beautiful memories. I think there's something to be said for small, intimate weddings. They're not about "show" they're about "feeling." Thanks for sharing your photos and memories.
Lovely! Congrats on your 10 years! We will be married 12 this summer and we were married 3 months when we discover our first baby was on the way. :)
What a great wedding. My sis-in-law sang a song for my brother. I know she was nervous, but was glad that she did it. Too bad about the cake. I think the cake is the whole reason to go to the wedding in the first place.
What a beautiful wedding! And you look absolutely gorgeous! I love the fact that you recorded yourself singing a Celine Dion song for your wedding. How sweet!
Thanks so much for your comment on my blog. I would be honored for you to post the quote on your sidebar. Thank you for your sweet words! :)
Once again, beautiful post.
In His arms,
