Lily's Ready for Preschool!

The sleepover was a huge success! I went up there around 3:30am and was like, "Okay, time to go to bed!" :D

One last pic before everyone left.....
Yesterday was Lily's preschool orientation to meet her teachers. We were both excited. I already knew that one of her teachers was a friend that I was in Brig with and we graduated together. Well, it turns out her other teacher was also a friend in Brig, but I think she was a year or two younger than us. So funny!
My pretty brown-eyed girl :)
This was totally her idea to do a pose.
Her class is the "Monster Mashers" class. I didn't know until I got there yesterday that they had put her in a class with mostly 3 year olds. :( They have another class with only 4 year olds, but I'm not sure what happened, but it is full and they put 5 of the youngest 4 year olds in with the 3's. Her teacher said she is the oldest in the class though, so that probably means she's the only 4 year old who will actually go to Kinder next year since her Bday just meets the cut-off. I'm not sure what to think about that. Her teacher assured me she would be taught at her level, but the more I think about it, the more I realize I just don't think this is going to help her grow. She needs to be with peers, who will help her to mature and be ready for Kinder. Not kids who are a year behind her socially. Besides that, she is already much more mature than most 4 year olds because she's around her sisters all the time.

On the one hand, I would love for her to stay in this class because I know her teachers. On the other hand, it's not going to do her any good to be around kids who don't even know how to share yet, you know? Advice, please!!! I don't know what to do! I picked this school because both of my other girls went there, but they were in a 4 year old class that all graduated together. I am just a little aggravated because no one told me this would happen when I registered her. And, if I had known, I probably would have chosen a school closer to us.
Checking out the classroom......I was surprised because she totally just left me to go play. She would not say a word to her teachers though.
Here is her look when I told her it was time to go. She wanted to stay and play some more.
Having fun.
Outside her classroom!
So, I don't know what to do. I love this school because it's only 3 hours a day, but it's Mon - Thurs, so it gets her used to going to school every day, as opposed to the other schools nearer to my house, that go all day. I think all day is just too long, and I don't want to only do 2 days a week because that doesn't help her have a good routine.

I get aggravated when sometimes in life, it seems like I just have these unnecessary problems that happen to only me! Why couldn't they just put her in the regular class?!! Ugh!

That's a total bummer! I'd be annoyed too if I weren't told what they were planning to do. Maybe you could take it up with the schools director and voice your concerns? After all, you are trusting them to care for your child they way you'd prefer them to.

She looked like she enjoyed herself though! Her outfit is so cute! You always dress your girls so fashionable! ;)

Yikes! If you really want her at the school I would ask if you could be on a list of the 4 yo class, so if someone drops out you can take their spot. Other than that, maybe find another school which I know you don't want to do and also it might be late. Sorry!!

Man that stinks! I agree that they should have told you before hand! Don't know... maybe you could tell them why it worries you and that you really want her to grow this year. I'll be praying!

She looks adorable!!! :)

She is darling! I would say ADVOCATE for her! Maybe your husband can go with you to talk to the principal and express your views. Sad to say, but it helps to have a man around, why I don't know. Some school districts even have parent advocates to talk to. I agree with you that she needs to be with children who are more on her maturity level. Hope it gets straightened out!

Maybe she will have a good time and enjoy being the oldest and the most advanced! (:>) Maybe she will become the teacher's special helper and learn to be a leader! Maybe some of the older three year olds will be mature and it will all work out fine. I don't know...but I will pray about it for you Kristin. (:>)

Love you!

She is precious. You might wait and see how school goes. Take your cues from her. If she hates it or starts getting in trouble a lot, those are signs that she might be bored and needs to move up.

Love the sleepover picture!

Came over from Linda's to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Your girls are so sweet! Oh, the joys of sleepovers!! Thanks for reviving my own memories.

My first visit here! When I read through your post I had some thoughts I felt I might share, but I've only been here once, lol. Upon reading Linda's comment I can truly say that my comment would have been the same! Good advice from all those who commented!

God bless in whatever your decision!

Cute picture of all the girls.
I hope that she is able to get in a classroom with her own age children.
She is adorable looking around her class though.

I would definitely try and do something about her preschool. It doesn't make since for her to be basically a year behind. That really does stink though!

She looks so cute in that outfit! It seems like she really did enjoy herself!

See if they can give you an idea of what her curriculum will be. You can then get a better idea of what she'll be learning. Pray about it and we'll be praying with you! She's so cute!

Be Blessed!

Well, I'm obviously a bit late on commenting on this one but I'm glad you got things squared away and feel better about Lily's class situation. I guess I'd just say go with things and it you really feel like it's not going to work out, you can say something to them and make some changes if necessary.

I love her outfit in this post too. You always get your girls such cute outfits. I am so not trendy at all with our girls!
