Books, Clothes, and Other Randomness!

"Every one of us must make a very important decision and this decision will have huge implications on how we process life. We must decide if we are going to put our faith in what God does or in who God is." --Pete Wilson, "Plan B"

I came across this quote in the book I'm reading last night and I thought it was definitely something to think about! When we are tempted to lose faith, because things did not turn out how we wanted them to, we must remember who God is! Instead of basing our faith on his activity, we must base it on His identity. He is always faithful, all-knowing, all-powerful, the Creator of the universe........His ways and reasons are so much higher and so much deeper than our minds can possibly ever comprehend and we must trust Him!!

I have read some really amazing books this year so far! When I read books that get me to think about things differently, I get really excited! That's why I mostly read non-fiction Christian books. I always learn something from them and I love that! I've read 19 books so far this year. Some of the really good ones I've read recently are:

"The Hole in Our Gospel" by Rich Stearns
"One in a Million" by Priscilla Shirer
"The Me I Want to Be" by John Ortberg
"Radical" by David Platt
"Christian Atheist" by Craig Groeschel
and I'm currently reading
"Plan B" by Pete Wilson

I also have "One Million Arrows" by Julie Ferwerda to read.
Thomas Nelson Publishers also sent me a copy of "I Am Hutterite" by Mary-Ann Kirkby to read and review, so I will be doing that too.

I love to read!!! What do you enjoy doing more than anything in your spare time?

Today, I spent all day cleaning out my spare room upstairs/storage room. It sure was fun going through all of the baby clothes I had kept and seeing what I still had. I just couldn't part with any of them. I also found a box of pictures and things that were my Mom's and it was so neat to see what all was in there. She even had telegrams that my PaPa had sent to my MeMe when he was in the service! So neat! They're so old and brittle now though.

I boxed up 2 totes full of clothes and things and Morgan took them to the pregnancy resource center's new resale shop they just opened, along with a glider rocker and hair bow rack I had. I also bagged up about 7 large trash bags full of things to donate to the drop-off donation box down the road. They were mostly old toys and clothes. And we got rid of several bags of stuff to throw away too. I'm still not done either. How does one family accumulate this much stuff? It makes me truly sad to know that things are that disposable in our house, yet so many children have nothing.

I hope everyone has an awesome Father's Day tomorrow!!! We are going to church, then over to my MIL's house for lunch. Have a great day!!!!

Doesn't it feel good to de-clutter? And the things you donated will help someone else. I like to look through the baby clothes I kept, too. Two years ago when Paul was born (my grandson) I made a display of his mom and dad's (my son's) baby clothes at the sign in table at his shower. After he was born, his mom took photos of him wearing his dad's baby clothes. He looked so cute! His second BD party was today and he wore the necktie shirt I ordered from you! Sounds like you are reading some great books. Blessings to all....

Happy Father's Day to Morgan!

I know you and his girlies will treat him good and show him how much you love him.

It is so good to de-clutter. I have lived here only 3 years and I need to do that too.

Stuff is fun for awhile...but then it becomes too much as it grows and clutters up our lives huh?

I used to buy books...but now I mostly get them at the Library. But I love to read too.

It is good when what you are reading is growing you as a Christian.

I am so proud of you... as I have seen such spiritual growth in your life since I first met you in blogland and started following you.

You inspire me.

I love you!

Good for you getting rid of some stuff. I did that all last week too. It was nice to move stuff around and get organized again...well sort of. The basement needs to be tackled next.
Hope Father's day was a good one.

Sorry to take so long to get over here to read this post! Hope you're having a great day today and yay for getting organized! I need to do more of that around here. Seems like we have so much stuff everywhere!

As for what I like to do in my free, time you pretty much already know the answer to that one! You are awesome to have read so many books! You go!!!

19 books?! That's amazing! Great job!

In my free time I just like to relax. Since most of my free time is when Evan is napping, I can't leave the house so the couch is my friend.
It's not helping with my rear-end though! hahaha!

Hope your Father's day was super special!

You inspire me, really. You are such a great friend, mother and person. You are so generous!! I really wish we lived closer. I would love to have a friend like you to hang out with. I get so lonely sometimes, I still have not found "That friend" since living here. I have one that I really like but she works so it makes it harder to hang out during the day. Which book do you think I would like the best? I can't believe you have read all of those? I have heard good things about all of them. At church they keep talking about the Christian Atheist book. It seems good but depressing because I see it a lot around me. You have an advatage living in the south where people are mor Christ like. Here it is not as prevelant and a lot of woman work. I want to move to TX. Love you!!

What an awesome quote...I need to add that book to my list. One of the things I rest in that brings me so much peace is the faithfulness of our God...regardless of our circumstances. Those others look so interesting as well. I need to get to the library!! =)

And...by the way...good for you for working on your spare room...I have to get organizing too! Thanks for the conviction...ahem...I mean encouragement!! =)
