Identity Theft - Part 3

This has nothing to do with what I learned at church this past Sunday, but I had to show y'all the pretty roses that Morgan brought in for me the other day from his rose bush outside! This one stem had 8 or 9 roses on it!
So, our sermon on Sunday was about this lie:

I'm not good enough.

Many people in the bible believed this lie, but God still did amazing things through them. The enemy wants to believe we aren't good enough, because he knows if we believe the lie, we will respond as if it were true.

One example was Moses. He was a Hebrew, raised as an Egyptian. He murdered an Egyptian, buried him, and ran away to the mountains. Then he saw a burning bush, but it wasn't an ordinary bush. God speaks to him through the bush and tells Moses the plans He has for him. Moses had many objections though. In Exodus 4:10, he tells God all about how he is not a good speaker and can't do what God has asked.

God had already taken that into account though. God even tells Moses several things he can do to prove to people that he was doing these things of God. He tells him to throw down his staff and it turns into a snake. When he picks up the snake, it turns back into his staff. Still though, Moses wasn't a good speaker and he told God he wasn't good enough. Moses believe the lie.

The lie is that your worth is based on what people say about you and your past experiences.
In Exodus 4:11, God begins to speak the truth. He tells Moses that He gave him his mouth to speak with. Still, Moses asks him to please send someone else to do it. That would be like our kids saying no to us when we ask them to clean their room, so we ask them again, and they ask us what part of no do we not understand?!! Can you imagine?!! And how many times do we do this to God?!

If we allow ourselves to believe lies, they will lead to dangerous conclusions. We will think that God can't use us because we aren't good enough. Our worth is not based on what others say about us or what our past experiences say about us. Our worth is based solely on what God says. Until we believe we are who He says we are, we won't be able to do what He's asking us to do.

God says we are called by Christ. Have you ever met someone famous? What if that famous person called you up one day and asked you for a favor or had a job for you to do? Even if it was cleaning their toilet, you would most definitely jump right on that! We are called by Christ and it should be our honor to do what He asks!! 1 Peter 2:9 says we were created to be used by Him for His glory. He rescued us from darkness to show others the goodness of God. We are worth it and we are capable because He has called us.

We aren't good enough on our own, but in Christ we are good enough. We are competent through Christ. God has heard all the excuses. Just look at most of the people of the bible. God says He can use us. "I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13 In 2 Corinthians 3:4-5, it says that "our competence comes from God."

We are also complete in Christ. We can be near God through Christ. "His divine power has given us everything we need." 2 Peter 1:3 Often, we try to fill the void with other things. God created that hole in us for Himself. Nothing else will complete it. You will never uncover real life apart from Christ.

He will make those plans He has for you complete too. He won't just leave them unfinished. The truth is that you are somebody and you are good enough through the power of Christ. Christ endured the shame of the cross because He saw something in you worth saving. He wants to make you complete and give you purpose and meaning. He says you are good enough. Don't let anyone else tell you any different. God made that brain that you use to doubt! Know the truth.......it will set you free!

What an awesome sermon! I loved it. So plain and clear.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! (Our Pastor's life verse)

We do need to stop believing the lies....and embrace God's truths.

Hey I LOVED your roses! I wish I could grow some big pretyy purple ones...I do have several bushes but they ar knockout roses and none of them get real big. I am afraid we don't have green thumbs. But I am thankful to have what we do have.
