The Sounds of Christmas

Joye is doing the five senses of Christmas over at her blog, and today is the sounds of Christmas. I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of Christmas music. I am even kind of aggravated that my favorite radio station is only playing Christmas music now. Actually, I'm super aggravated at that one. LOL!

But, one of my favorite songs is "O Holy Night". I love this version by Kelly Clarkson. After my Mom died, I found a CD with her version on it, and for some reason every time I hear this song, it reminds me that my Mom is in Heaven, celebrating with Jesus every day. When Kelly sings, "Oh hear the angel voices" it gives me chills every time. I'm sure my family will be glad when Christmas is over too, because I have been singing this song way loud on our karaoke machine. Ha!

We are going to a Christmas program on Christmas Eve with our church that our sponsor church puts on every year, and they told me that the main reason to go is to hear their version of "O Holy Night". I can't wait!!

O Holy Night is my favorite, hands down, too. I always wanted it played at my wedding b/c I always wanted a Christmas wedding. We did the Christmas wedding, but for various reasons, I ended up not having the girl sing O Holy Night like I'd always imagined. I kind of regret not having it, but there were too many other songs I wanted more. . . . I think the pianist played it during the precessional, though. Beautiful song!

Beautiful song. I love the connect you have to it with your mother singing praises in heaven. Such a beautiful thought.

I love O Holy Night too. I'd never heard Kelly Clarkson sing it, but have heard several people say they really like it. Thanks for sharing it with us. It's great.

And yes, I'm sure your mother is enjoying those angelic voices right now. What a lovely thought!

I had to stop and think here about which song is my favorite Chrismas song and I'm not really sure I have a favorite! Hmmmm. I do love this song though and I think Kelly has an amazing voice!

I love O Holy Night too. It's one of my favorite Christmas songs. I think the melody is as powerful as the words. Love it!

I LOVE Christmas music, but I know what you're saying--I've gotten to the point where I'm really pretty picky about what Christmas music I listen to. Because a lot of that old stuff really grates on my nerves, and all of the stuff that Christian artists put out is boring. I do LOVE the old Amy Grant Christmas CD that came out in like...the 80s sometime. lol. It's just fun! And as much as I hate to admit it, I'm hopelessly in love with Clay Aiken's Christmas CD. Ha!

Pandora.com is my favorite place to go for Christmas music though, because I can listen to instrumental and jazz, and that's my favorite! Have you ever heard of Chris Botti? I think I've talked about him on my blog a couple of times before, but I can't remember. Anyway, he's an amazing jazz trumpet player. He's one of my favorites to listen to. :)

Ok, this is long. Sorry for rambling. ha!
