I have posted about JJ Heller's song, "Your Hands" before. I just love it because it speaks exactly the words that portray my journey. I was overwhelmed a few minutes ago, when I got on Facebook, and read JJ's story behind the song:
At the time when I wrote "Your Hands" (with the help of my husband and our friend Katie Herzig) I was in the middle of one of the most difficult times of my life. I had been struggling with anxiety and panic attacks for a few years, but I was at a point where I was either panicking, or wondering when my next attack would come. I prayed that God would immediately remove all of my symptoms, but He chose not to answer my prayer that way. Instead, He reminded me that I have no reason to be afraid. The same hands that created the universe are holding me and leading me where I need to go. This is a very personal song, but I've been overwhelmed by the amount of people who have connected to "Your Hands" and have been encouraged by it. Peace.*jj
I can't tell you how much I identified with what she was saying! No wonder I loved this song immediately, the first time I heard it. And I feel that the Lord is trying to tell me the same thing he told her, and the same thing He's been trying to teach me........He doesn't need to take my fear away. He needs me to see that I have nothing to fear when I am with Him! He needs me to see that I can rest in Him.
I love how she says "He chose to answer my prayer a different way." God is always faithful to answer our prayers, but not always in the way that we expect. We have to remember that His way is always best. He sees the big picture. He knows what is best for us, and that is what having faith in Him is all about. Just like we know what's best for our own children, because we can see things from our own experiences that they cannot, God knows the plans He has for us!
This was such an amazing moment to read about this song! Not only does it let me know that I am not alone, but it gives me hope and courage that the Lord hears my struggles and He is faithful to answer me and my prayers and questions, if I will just be open to listen.

I think our preacher calls this 'reality' or in the 'worldy' being. I believe we all feel this way one time or another and more than once! We feel He is there but not, He lets things happen so we can be stronger and draw closer to Him. I am only sorry you have been feeling this way! BUT I also know, after going thru cancer that His way is always the best way and on His time! Much luv and many prayers! :)
I can't hear the song (at work, shhh) but I love that JJ says this: "He reminded me that I have no reason to be afraid. The same hands that created the universe are holding me and leading me where I need to go." POWERFUL!
That is an awesome song and I think so many can relate to it. It was very neat to read the background on the song too. Thanks for posting that. Powerful
Thanks for sharing that song. I had heard it on the radio before, but I really liked seeing the lyrics and hearing both your stories.
That's amazing that JJ and your experiences are so similar! That's pretty awesome! You know...I haven't really heard this song that many times because I usually only listen to the radio when I'm in my car and I haven't really gone a ton of places lately. I'm thinking I should get out our one CD player/radio from the garage and bring it in so I can listen to more Christian music like I had been doing before. Good music really does feed the soul!
Well, hope you have a great day today at your Aunt B's! Love ya!
What an amazing song, I love reading your devotional's that you put on here and this post is the perfect example. I originally started blogging for myself to remember events in my and my children's life. Little did I know where it would take me, like meeting friends like you and others that have led me in the direction that I am taking with Christ. Thank You so much for that!!
I'm going to have to give that song a listen...when it's not so quiet in my house!
I too struggle with anxiety issues. I actually suffer from OCD and since Evan was born, I've been struggling with anxiety a lot. I have prayed that the Lord would take those feelings away but maybe He's answering them in a different way? I'm so glad you posted about this today! Thank you!
I absolutely love this song and listen to it a lot. You just gave me another opportunity to listen so thanks!
