I did the notecards because I knew that not everyone has a little girl to buy a hair bow for, but I have to admit I've been getting a little scared because they are not something I've made before and I feel like such an amateur. I really just take papers that I've had for awhile and just put them together using my Cricut machine.
Well, you know how when the Lord has a good thing going, there's that certain someone who will come along and get you off track (the enemy). Well, last night my cricut machine was not wanting to cut anymore and I decided it must just need a new blade, so I bought a new one tonight. Tomorrow, I will work on making new cards and adding them to my boutique. But, I did not let him stall my progress. I took some flowers and circles and squares that I already had made and started putting them together, along with some sparkly rhinestones, and they turned out pretty cute. I'll add them tonight or tomorrow too.
While I was at Michael's to get my new blade, I found this:
Oh my goodness, this is going to be so much fun! It's cute little paper dolls that my machine will cut out. I just love my cricut machine. I got it last year for my Birthday and the reason it takes me so long to make cards is because it's so hard to narrow down the possibilities! You have to have different cartridges to do different designs and shapes and letters, and this is my 5th cartridge to get. I use this machine to make stencils for my t-shirt designs also. There are just so many things you can do with it. Oh, and tonight I bought the markers that will fit in it, so that instead of cutting out the shapes, it will draw them on the paper. So much fun!I love being creative and being crafty, but it doesn't take long before I get bored with what I'm doing. That's why lately I've been having a hard time trying to decide where to go with Summer Suzette Couture. There are already so many hairbow makers out there and I'm working on some ideas in my head (LOL!) on a new direction to go with my boutique, totally unrelated to hair accessories.
I would love to hear your ideas on what you go looking for when you shop handmade. Is it the fact that it's unique? personalized? What makes you see a product and think, "I have to have that!" What are some of the reasons you won't shop handmade? Does it take too long to get it, are the prices too high, can you get something similar at Target? I would love to hear your advice/thoughts!

All of your stuff is really cute Krisin! I am looking forward to getting my order.
I am super excited to order my notecards! A lady I taught with had one of those "cutters" and we loved it! Our kids stuff was way cuter then the other classes :) Let me know when they are up, and I will be sure to order them. To answer your question-I love handmade things, it's usually the price that gets me not to order, but I think you are priced great!
I agree with Kate. The price is usually what gets me. If I see something I like but the price is too high then I skip over it. I guess I like to get the most bang for my buck. lol
I really like your cards and would love to get some. Will be checking for restocking. ;) Do you do custom card orders?
I like to shop handmade because I know that a person/family is benefiting instead of a larger corporation/business and whatnot. Some of the things I have bought handmade include a custom wrap, cloth dipes & wipes, cloth pads, soap, leggies, burp rags, wet bags, snack bags, and diaper cream. (Hmmm a baby theme going on here. lol)
Hey! I am so excited that your notecards are selling so well!!! Please do not let the little things or the thoughts that the enemy plants in your head to make you doubt yourself. You are so, so talented! I can't wait to see what your new project turns out like. ;)
As far as buying handmade items, I guess it's hard for me to answer your question, because as one who makes handmade items, I guess I see things from a different perspective. A lot of times people don't see how much time goes into making certain things and they want to buy it for cheap. Although...from the buyers perspective, if something is out of my price range, I would probably pass it by even if I liked it a lot.
Well, sorry I haven't been too helpful on this one. Today I've been having all kinds of thought about my hats and just wondering what I should do about the things we've talked about. I'm just praying for the Lord's guidance! Love you lots and hope you have a great weekend!
Glad you weren't giving in to being stalled! Good for you. That'll teach him.
I love buying handmade. It supports people and their 'business'. I'd rather pay a higher price for handmade then go to WalMart of Target and get an assembly line product for cheaper AND usually, the quality is better when handmade! I wish more people would shop quality and not price. I know price can be a factor sometimes, but I think we all end up with so much 'junk'. Believe me, I use to work at Joann's and all the seasonal stuff is junk - and I would always buy it because it was cool and would look 'cute' in my house. Should have saved my money.
Anyway, I prefer handmade ANY DAY! Have a fun weekend.
