Here's a picture of them at the bookstore that I took with my phone. I'm surprised it turned out so clear!
I didn't get very long to look around, because the girls were so anxious to go to the kid's section, but I did find one book that is actually two books in one. For Easter, our church gave us a free copy of "The Case for Easter" by Lee Strobel. Yesterday, I found this book by him that has "The Case for Christ" and "The Case for Faith" all in one. Not that I need proof, but I just thought it would be interesting to read all of the historical documents regarding Jesus. This morning, Madison, Kaylee, and I went to church. Morgan didn't get back until late last night, so he stayed home and I let Lily stay home with him.
Today concluded the One Prayer 2009 series. I ended up raising $35 for One Prayer through my Summer Suzette Couture sales. Our message today was by Francis Chan from Cornerstone Church in CA. You can find the video that we watched here. I highly recommend watching it! It was on God is Strength. It really changed my perspective on how I should think about God. He gave a quote from a man named J. Vernon McGee that went like this:
"This is God's universe and God does things His way. You may have a better way, but you don't have a universe!"
I loved that! It totally cracked me up! Anyways, he talked alot about how powerful God is and how we have His spirit in us. He challenged us to think about if people saw us as powerful. We have so many things at our fingertips in this day and age, with TV and the internet. Think about the people of the Bible who shared their faith. They didn't have access to everything we do today, but they still went out and did great things. Why are we so scared to share Christ with people, when we have all of the answers at our fingertips?
He also talked about how arrogant we can be with God. We question Him and ask Him if He is sure He wants to do the things He does, but He doesn't need our permission! He created us!
The main point that I got out of today was that because I am a follower of Christ, I should feel powerful. I should not be afraid; I have almighty God on my side! I should also not question God. He does not need me to tell Him how to do things. Also, there is just no excuse for not sharing my faith with others. That is what Christ asked us to do and that's what He expects us to do. Even if I feel silly, the Bible says in Isaiah 45:22-23 that one day everyone will realize who He is!
I'm glad I went to church today and I'm learning so much.
This is what the girls were doing when I started this post. It was suffocatingly hot today, about 100 degrees, so we put the canopy over their little pool so they wouldn't get burned!
I left my post to go eat dinner. We just ate the yummy grilled fresh red snapper that Morgan caught in the Gulf of Mexico yesterday. It was delicious!!!
Hope you all had a great weekend! If you didn't leave a comment on my giveaway post, make sure to do so!

Wow Kristin! That picture you took with your phone was really good! Don't you love Barnes and Noble?
40 minutes away! Ugh! You poor thing!
Regarding what you said about Power. I always get excited when I tell my kids, "The same God that rose Lazarus from the dead...that allowed Peter to walk on water...that turned the water into wine...that made the blind man see...that made the lame man walk...that ... is the same God that we serve today. We have access to this powerful and loving God who wants to be a part of our lives. That's exciting stuff! I literally get a totally excited feeling when I think of that. What's there to fear when we serve that God!?
Thanks for sharing.
Love ya.

Hi Kristin,...So glad you had another great day at church. You are really learning and growing!!! Glad you raised some money for your One Prayer donation.
I grew up listening to J.Vernon McGee on the radio. My mother loved him,...and so did I. I still hear him on the radio station that I listen to. He has a unique voice,..and some people find it irritating,...(like Lynnette,...she doesn't like it,...but I do. I LOVE IT) ((smile)) And part of the reason is because it makes me think of times spent with my mom. But he is a good preacher.
Anyway I like that quote.
I am glad that you and the girls had fun together at Barnes and Noble. I have read a Case for Christ and I loved it. And I have the video and it is wonderful too. I think you will enjoy the book. And it is a good one to share with anyone who doesn';t believe.
Sunday School and Church were good for us today too. I love going to church. God is so faithful and so good to us!
I love you,
Linda
Wow, I love Francis Chan! Have you read Crazy Love? I highly recommend it! Love the pool with canopy! I need one, but I am sure the apartment people would frown upon that in the front yard! Mmm...fish, love it!
Hey you! I'm back from my sorta break from the computer this weekend! I'm glad you guys had such a great time at the book store. What did the girls pick out while you were there? I'm sure Alyssa would be in heaven if I took her to B&N but the nearest one is also like 40 min away from here!
Cool that you enjoyed church yesterday too. The girls and I made it without Fernando and we did okay. I'll have to tell you more about my adventure with Audrey and the nursery a little later.
I was super excited to read that you raised $35 for One Prayer! That's awesome. I bet it was those new things you listed last week. They were all awesome!
Talk to you soon and hope you have a great day. I'll be crossing my fingers on the giveaway!
I am surprised that picture was taken on your phone. My phone takes the worst pictures imaginable! I LOVE taking Autumn to Barnes and Noble too. We go there as if it is a library! Plus, I LOVE their Iced coffees!
THat was such a smart idea to put that canopy above the pool!
Also, I have really enjoyed following you throughout your journey of getting to know God better so far!
I haven't been to a Barnes and Noble in soooo long. :(
It's great to hear about your great day in church and how you are learning so much.
That canopy is such a great idea! We have a kid pool and it gets super hot here, too!
I appreciate your encouragement. IT means a lot to me. I'm just scared about the whole thing and scared for future problems.. what month did your mugging take place? I will look it up and read, sorry that happend to you too. I suppose we are to trusting and naive. Love ya.
I've had my eye on a Bible for a while now at Barnes and Noble that I want to get. :) Oh the late J. Vernon McGee was great!! I try to listen to him on the radio whenever I can. He does have a unique voice I like it though!! :)
I love shopping for books too. Even thought I am not able to read as much as I would like, I still buy them, for that just in case.
Sorry, I posted everything under hubs name Seneca. I just keep doing this.
