Today, I'm recycling an old post that I wrote back in January that I don't think many people saw. I thought it was a good one since we just had Mother's Day.
In May of 1976, a beautiful little being came into my life and changed my life forever. That little being was you. You, my darling daughter, Kristin and I began a wonderful journey that would last a lifetime and beyond. I loved you from the moment I set eyes on your sweet little face. This is the short set you had on that beautiful day in May. As I held out my arms to see if you would come to me, you literally fell into my arms. At that very moment, I knew you were meant to be my little girl. You may not have grown under my heart but you surely grew in my heart. Remember the feeling you had when they laid your baby in your arms? At that very moment you formed a bond like no other. It is a love you feel, but can’t be explained. Your heart is so full. That is the feeling I had when you fell into my arms. Mothers Day, May 12, 2002, will be your second Mother’s Day and my 25th. Kristin, savor every precious moment. Life is so very short. Even now as I write this to you, my heart is so full I could burst. I thank God each and every day for giving me the most precious gift in the world. Ours is not to question why, but to trust in Him, all things. I put my faith and trust in Him, then He entrusted me with this innocent, precious little life, a baby girl. God made me a mother and not just any mother, but Kristin’s mother.
All my love forever,
Mom
For Mother's Day one year, my Mom gave me a beautiful shadow box that had the picture and story above inside, along with the outfit that I had on in the picture. The day that picture was taken, I was 9 months old and my Mom was babysitting me. For some reason, she decided to take a few pictures. We now know that was a gift from the Lord, pictures we would later treasure. Little did she know on that day, that just 6 months later, she would adopt me and I would be her daughter! It gives me chills just thinking about how it all worked out. The main lesson I have learned from my Mom, and my adoption story, is that even when we do not see a way, the Lord will make a way. We must always trust in Him.
Another thing I have learned is how important it is to leave things like this behind for our children. I absolutely treasure my Mom's writings and journals and they have brought me such comfort when I feel like I just need to hear her voice again, or hear her advice. Take time to write things down for your children or your grandchildren........it's something they will treasure more than you know when you are no longer here! (Thank goodness we have Wednesday's Walks now!)

That blessed my heart so much.. Thank you.
Good Morning Kristin,
That was so special that your mom wrote you that letter and put your little outfit with it. She was an amazing mother,...and she brought you up to be the wonderful woman that you are today. I love her for making you who you are,...a beautiful person inside and out.
Just as you fell into her arms that day,...And it was all meant to be that she would become your mommy,...I feel that it was all meant to be for you to enter my heart via the blogging world. (smile) You are in my heart to stay.
Love, Linda
Thank you for sharing.
I loved reading the letter from you mom! So heartfelt! I could feel the love.
Thank you for sharing Kristin! This is such a beautiful letter that surely you have treasured. And your girls will also treasure it!
I am so bad at writing things down. I have very few journal entries for my girl and I have yet to write for my boy! What I have saved for her has been clothes from her first year and for him the same thing.
I just need to get back to writing! LOL!
Have a beautiful day!
What a wonderful story. You are so right, what a treasure to have these items from your mom. Thank you for sharing. Your stories always touch my heart.
Kristen- I came across your blog through Lynnette, and read about your adoption on the your blog a few weeks ago. What an amazing story! Your mom left you a legacy of love. That letter and shadow box are great reminders to us all to so the same.
Thank you for posting,, now on to see your new business blog...
I invite you to check out my blog some day - September
Thank you for sharing your Mum's letter. What a great blessing.
What a beautiful letter your Mother had written for you. There is never a way to express into words what it means to be a mother and how much love is involved, but I would say she came pretty darn close :)
I was very interested in the "answer to questions about heaven" - I would say as well that I never considered the approach of how our passed loved ones view us from heaven. I suppose when we were young and asked our parents if "Grandma" was looking over us from heaven - hearing that she was watching, was always a comfort for us. And I think during a grieving process - it still would be. But I also believe what your Pastor spoke about was the truth. Thank you for sharing.
This is the first time I've seen your blog and I like it. I read your "How I became Kristin" post and what a beautiful story! You are right there are a lot of people that have bitterness towards their biological mother and it is great that you don't and that you have only thankfulness and love.
Thanks for stopping by my blog also.
Enjoyed reading and thanks for sharing!
Sweet Kristin...what a beautiful post from your beautiful heart. How amazing that your mama thought to take pictures on that fateful day! God is so good to have laid that on her heart. What a gift. I, too, know how precious it is to have the gifts left behind from our mothers...their words, pictures, even the simple sight of their handwriting on a piece of paper...a recipe on a napkin. How I know the value of the pieces of ourselves we mothers leave behind. I recently went to get my mother's bible and saw that she had highlighted scriptures. How special it was to me to read the scriptures that spoke to her. It was yet another piece of her heart...and I am longing for every little bit of her. Such a gift. Thank you for this sweet post.
Love to you...
