Do you ever have these thoughts deep inside your soul that you just know for sure that you were meant to be something else, but for some reason it just didn't work out that way? I do. I just think the real Kristin, for sure, was supposed to be some type of musician. There's just a few problems: I can't read music, I don't know how to play an instrument, and I'm not really even sure that I can sing all that well! LOL At any rate, for this Thankful Thursday, I am thankful for music!
I just love music! It speaks to my soul. It calms me. It makes me feel better. It brings out every emotion in me. It doesn't matter what kind it is. I love almost every kind of music. I so look forward to Heaven because I have heard that the music is unlike anything we have ever heard on Earth. The sounds are so magnificent that our ears cannot possibly imagine it! Is anyone else extremely excited about that part of Heaven?
Anyways, I was at Best Buy the other day and found a "Barlow Girl" CD. I didn't know any of their songs, but I am so glad that I bought it. I haven't even listened to the entire CD yet, because I like this one song so much. I couldn't find a video that wasn't live, so the song isn't all that clear, but it's still worth listening to. I love that they are a Christian rock band..........awesome! It's called "Song for the Broken" off of their "How Can We Be Silent" CD.
Song for the Broken
I am the comfortable secure
The definition of this western world
And I have perfected deceit
Even I believe I'm above saving
I'll never let you see
I am the broken
I am the bruised
I am the poor ones
I am the used
It takes me falling to the ground
To admit to fully needing You
Then when I'm breathing my last breath
'Come and save me' I will cry to You
'Cause pride has not let me say
I am the broken
I am the bruised
I am the poor ones
I have been used
Why does it take so much to bring me to my knees
Why does it take so much pain for me to see
If strength is only found when I am on my knees
Why is it so hard to show that I am weak?
I am the broken
I am the bruised
I am the poor ones
I have been used

Hey there,
I was totally laughing when I read the beginning of this post where you talked about what you should have been. I seriously could have written everything you said. When I was younger, even in high school, I wanted to do something in the music field. The only trouble? I don't know how to read music or play an instrument either! I can only sing, and like you, I'm not sure I'm that good anyway! The Bible says to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, so to Him our voices are just perfect!
As far as the Barlow Girls are concerned, I have never heard of them before. They sort of remind me of Addison Road. They are a little more rock that what I like, but it's still pretty cool that they are an all girl rock band!
Hope you had a great day!
Can I just say I LOVE LOVE LOVE Barlow Girls?! I used to blare their music in the house I rented in college whenever I was having a rough day. It ALWAYS made me feel better and reminded me I serve a God who is WAY bigger than my circumstances.
By the way, I just wanted to thank you so much for posting a link to my Etsy shop on your store website. How sweet! I really appreciate your friendship and am so excited for your new business! Oh, and I should tell you that I had TWO orders this week from my Etsy shop. (Of course, one was Veronica, but I was so excited to get her order ;) Thanks for all your sweet encouragement!
Barlow girl is amazing! There song writing is so genuine and heartfelt, I always can relate to at least one of their songs. That CD is also an excellent cd, especially musically. You made a fantastic purchase choice!
I also can't wait for the music in heaven! It will so totally blow our socks off. :D I think that everyone will be surprised at the style, especially those that feel that certain types of music are sinful.
They are awesome we saw them at winter Jam these girls can seriously ROCK.. love them.
I LOVE music so very much, but like you, I am not really schooled in any of the music areas. I think the "real Melissa" was supposed to be a dancer. I love all types of dance, but I really love choreographed stuff. I think I really love dance so much, though because of music. BTW, I really have started listening to Christian music more and I am loving it. The closer I have grown to God, too, I have found that a lot of songs are about Him and I never realized it. Rascal Flatts "Unstoppable", to me, is about the love of God. It's awesome how He changes our perspective on things so drastically. :)
