My Buddy

Today my best friend in the whole entire world, Jennifer, came over and we exchanged gifts. She is a "Twilight" fanatic, so naturally, she got me the Twilight book! She's ready for me to get on board with all of this Twilight stuff. In fact, for Christmas, I made her a necklace that said "Team Edward" with a red jewel hanging down and got her some Twilight magnets. I even made her an ornament with red ribbons that said "Twilight" on it.

She also got me this beautiful silver necklace that says "Mother" on it. I love it! She brought L the "swim to me puppy" dog, because last month L saw the commercial on TV and told me "Jennifer buy it for me". We thought that was so funny! She brought K a jewelry box with jewels on it that you get to color and decorate. She loved it.....it was absolutely perfect for her! I just got home from the store with batteries for the new electronic journal that she brought for M....let me tell you, she is thrilled to have a journal that her little sisters cannot open up and scribble on. She has been carrying it around and saying how much she loves it!

When I was in 8th grade, we had to move. That was so hard on me, after having lived in one place my entire life, and Jennifer has been my best buddy since then. I don't know what I would've done all these years without her friendship. We've been friends for almost 20 years! She always knows just what I need. And she always picks out the best gifts for the girls. No matter what she chooses, it's always their favorite!

We started calling each other "buddy" in 9th grade, after trying out for the drum and bugle corp. We both decided that we would play soprano bugles, and would laugh that we sounded like we were killing cats with those things! We started calling each other "cat killing buddies" and now just "buddy". I love remembering stories like that.

Today, while I was driving around, doing my last minute shopping, I literally was praying and thanking God for sending me such a good friend to be there for me through all of the good times and the bad times of these past 20 years. What a blessing she has been to me. I just hope she knows how much she has meant to me over the years, and I hope that when we are 80 years old, we are still looking back, laughing about all the fun we've had over the years.

I love ya Buddy!
